japanese surgeonfish

acanthurus japonicus

Moderate This fish is considered a moderately difficult one. Read well into how to care for this fish and which tank mates it needs, so you can take good care of it. This fish doesn't take pleasure in swimming in smaller aquariums, it needs at least 1000 liter to feel good. Keep your salinity within 1.021-1.025 (at 25°C) and temperature between 23-27°C. The Japanese Surgeonfish likes to eat artemia, big frozen food, clam meat, flakes, krill, mysis, nori and seaweed.

No corals for the Japanese Surgeonfish. Your carefully maintained corals should be safe with this fish in your tank, because it is considered reefsafe.

We consider the Japanese Surgeonfish to be a semi-aggressive fish. Be careful when introducing it to your less (or more) aggressive fish. It is, however, not a fish that will be the terror of your tank.
